Ghanaian comedian Amponsah Obarima Akuoko, popularly known as OB Amponsah, has taken a subtle swipe at former President Nana Akufo-Addo.
He described the former President’s leadership style as arrogant and contrasted it with what he sees as President John Mahama’s humility and attentiveness.
In a social media post on Monday, June 16, he argued that President Mahama’s willingness to listen to Ghanaians and his down-to-earth attitude stand in sharp contrast to the “arrogance” that characterised the previous administration.
“President John Mahama is entrusted with the arduous task of restoring the confidence and trust in democracy and leadership that seemed to have dwindled the past 12 years; during his first term and after the 8 years of Pharaoh,” OB Amponsah wrote.
He further stated that if Mahama’s second term becomes successful, it will not only benefit the National Democratic Congress (NDC) but also the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP), which is currently reeling from voter apathy.
“The NDC government looks a lot attractive now, but if anybody should be happy for JM’s success during his term of office, it should be the NPP,” he noted.
“His success in governance may be a restoration of faith in government and one of the reasons party members will come out to vote for Kennedy Agyapong after the overwhelming voter apathy the NPP suffered in 2024.”
