Afrobeat sensation Kizz Daniel has opened up about the deeply personal inspiration behind his latest single, “Al-Jannah”, which means “paradise.”
In a recent podcast interview, the acclaimed singer and songwriter revealed that the song is a tribute to his late father and other cherished loved ones who have passed away. “When my dad was alive, he was my best friend,” Kizz Daniel shared, reflecting on the close bond they had.
The track was inspired not only by the death of his father in 2015—just days after his 21st birthday—but also by the loss of his infant son in 2021 and his wife’s mother in 2024. He said he wanted to craft a song that would serve as a collective tribute, rather than focus on just one person.
To do that, Kizz Daniel chose the word “friend” as a central theme, allowing the song to resonate with anyone grieving someone dear. “Al-Jannah” stands as a moving expression of love, loss, and remembrance, capturing the raw emotion behind the artist’s personal journey.
