Afrobeats superstar David Adeleke, popularly known as Davido, has expressed frustration over what he perceives as a lack of recognition for his contributions to the Nigerian music industry.
In a recent interview with content creator Egungun of Lagos, Davido said, “I have been conquering the music industry for 15 years, but the crazy thing is that people don’t give me my flowers [credits] that I deserve.”
Despite being one of Africa’s most celebrated artists, Davido believes his achievements are often overlooked.
When asked by Egungun, “Do you believe that you have haters?” Davido responded, “There are haters, but when I go everywhere, they love me, so I’m like, where are the haters?”
Davido’s impact on Afrobeats has earned him multiple accolades over the years. Most recently, at the 17th edition of The Headies Awards in Lagos, he took home two major honors: Artist of the Year and Digital Artiste of the Year.
Still, the singer maintains that true appreciation of his legacy remains elusive.
