Ghanaian hiplife artiste, Belinda Nana Ekua Amoah, popularly known as Mzbel, has lamented the unemployment situation in the country.
The renowned singer, who is known to be a sympathiser of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), expressed shock that the situation remains unchanged even after her party won power.
In a social media post on Saturday, April 19, the Chief Executive Officer of Mzbel Music revealed that she is under immense pressure to secure jobs for people.
“Our party is in power but we’re still struggling to get jobs lol.
“The pressure on me right now from my constituency, colleagues, friends, family, new voters, and fans is unbearable… they just want jobs,” she wrote on Facebook.
Meanwhile, during the 2024 election campaign, then opposition candidate John Dramani Mahama promised to provide jobs for unemployed Ghanaians through the implementation of a 24-hour economy.
The round-the-clock economy model, the President explained, would boost local production, increase exports, and create job opportunities to enhance the country’s economy.
However, the National Communications Director of the NPP, Richard Ahiagbah, says the policy will not materialise because the government has no clear plan for its implementation.
“This year, they can’t deliver it because there’s no provision for it in the budget to show it’s going to be implemented, so he cannot be on track,” Mr. Ahiagbah said on Accra-based JoyNews’ The Pulse on Thursday, April 17.
