Ghanaian musician Chief One has revealed that he deliberately chose not to file for the 26th Telecel Ghana Music Awards (TGMA).
The singer cited the need to prevent his fans from spending money unnecessarily.
Speaking on Daybreak Hitz on Accra-based Hitz FM, he explained that while he believes he deserves recognition, he wants to earn it through hard work rather than putting financial pressure on his supporters.
“I didn’t file [nomination for TGMA 2025]. Sometimes, I don’t want my fans to lose money anyhow. I think I need to work hard. If it is loud, nobody can say anything,” he stated.
The Wotelewoea hitmaker emphasized that he prefers to let his music speak for itself rather than push for awards prematurely.
“I deserve to be there, but I really have to work hard to get to that level,” he added.
Meanwhile, nominations for the 26th Telecel Ghana Music Awards have been released with King Paluta, Kweku Smoke, Joe Mettle, Team Eternity, Stonebwoy and Black Sherif, battling the covetted Artist of the Year category.
