The management of Ghanaian singer and rapper King Paluta has expressed disappointment over the exclusion of his hit song Makoma from four nomination categories at the upcoming Telecel Ghana Music Awards (TGMAs).
In a statement dated March 18, the team revealed that Makoma was submitted for Most Popular Song of the Year, Record of the Year, Hiplife Song of the Year, and Songwriter of the Year. However, it was not considered in any of these categories.
“We humbly write to your honorable board to demand explanations regarding the snub of Makoma by King Paluta, a song we duly submitted for consideration. We believe it remains Ghana’s most popular song released during the year under review, generating immense excitement among music lovers to date.
“This concern has become necessary after the team realized that none of the categories we submitted the song for were considered following the official nominees’ announcement,” the statement read in part.
The management has petitioned Charterhouse, organizers of the awards, urging them to provide a convincing explanation to the team, music enthusiasts, and the general public regarding what they described as an unpopular decision.
“We are confident that Makoma breaches no moral or ethical requirements of the board and remain ready to engage for possible reconsideration of the song in the submitted categories,” they added.
Meanwhile, despite the snub, King Paluta secured nominations in EP of the Year, Most Popular Song of the Year with Aseda, and Artiste of the Year.
