Renowned Nollywood icon Patience Ozokwo, affectionately known as "Mama G," has been awarded an honorary doctorate in Theatre and Media Arts from the Achievers Network Academy in the United Kingdom at the age of 66.

This prestigious recognition was bestowed upon the veteran actress in acknowledgement of her remarkable impact on Nollywood and African cinema. The honor was presented during a ceremony on Saturday, organized by the University of Lagos (UNILAG), where other prominent Yoruba actors, Adebayo Salami and Jide Kosoko, were also celebrated for their groundbreaking work in the industry.

Ozokwo took to Instagram to share her joy, saying, “Today felt like a scene from a movie. Honorary Doctorate Degree. A heartfelt thank you to UNILAG. I’m deeply grateful.”

A true pioneer in Nollywood, Patience Ozokwo’s journey began as a radio announcer before her breakout role in the 1999 film Authority propelled her into stardom. With an extensive filmography of over 100 films, her iconic performances in Ukwa (2001), Blood Sister (2003), and Billionaires Club (2003) have solidified her place as one of the most celebrated figures in African cinema.
