The flagbearer of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), John Dramani Mahama has reiterated his commitment to building a National Theatre in Kumasi in the Ashanti Region.

In an engagement with members of the creative industry ahead of the 2024 general election, the former President described Kumasi as the centre of Arts and Culture in the country.

He argued that this is why Kumasi deserves to have its own National Theatre.

“Since the Chinese helped us to build the National Theatre there has been no rehabilitation. A lot of things have spoiled and it's time for us to rehabilitate the place to help the creative industry.

“In 2020 it was in our manifesto to construct a second national theatre. This has been repeated in our 2024 manifesto. So, we plan to build a second National Theatre in Kumasi because Kumasi is the centre of Arts and Culture in this country. This is something that the next NDC government will look at,” John Dramani Mahama.

John Dramani Mahama with just a few weeks to the 2024 General Election continues his campaign and engagements with various groups.

He is hoping to convince them to vote to elect him as president at the end of the December 7 presidential polls.
