Ghanaian rapper Pope Skinny has openly expressed his readiness to accept financial support from any politician willing to offer it.
In an interview with Amansan Krakye, the rapper shared his desire to make political endorsements, especially following a ban preventing musicians from promoting alcoholic products.
“I’ve not been given any money so far by any politician, but I’m waiting to see who will bring it. If they bring it, I’ll take it—any party that offers, I’ll gladly accept,” Pope Skinny stated.
He explained that, with limited opportunities for endorsements in the industry, support from politicians could provide an alternative source of income.
The rapper added, “If they say we can’t do adverts for alcoholic beverages, and a politician brings me money, I’ll gladly take it and support them.
“All the major parties are saying the same thing anyway.”
Pope Skinny noted that, ultimately, his support would go to the highest bidder, given his belief that parties tend to follow similar agendas once in office.
“When they’re voted into power, it’s only one thing that they do. If they’ll bring something small for my vote, I’ll take it—but once in office, they know what to do,” he concluded.
