The highly anticipated London premiere of the movie 'The Storm' faced an unexpected setback yesterday as the event failed to draw the expected crowd.
Hosted at Genesis Cinema on October 12, 2024, the film’s unveiling saw few attendance, with fewer than 50 people turning up despite over 500 invitations sent out.
The premiere, initially scheduled to start at 8 pm had to be delayed by nearly an hour, eventually commencing at 8:45 pm Organizers struggled to fill even 10% of the venue, as attendees trickled in far below the expected numbers.
Adding to the disappointment, audience members who did attend gave the film low ratings. Despite the involvement of big-name Ghanaian stars such as Ama K. Abebrese, Adjetey Anang, Samini, Salma Mumin, Fiifi Coleman, Edward Agyaku Kuffuor, and Luckie Lawson, none of the cast appeared at the premiere as promised.
Directed by Ben Owusu and shot in Ghana, The Storm was intended to make a big splash at its London premiere. However, the low turnout and lukewarm reception have cast a shadow over what was meant to be a landmark event.
