Heartbreak led me to God – Perez Musik shares personal journey

Ghanaian gospel artist, Perez Musik, has revealed how a painful heartbreak became the turning point in his life, leading him away from ungodly behavior and towards a deeper relationship with God.

The singer, who has risen to prominence in the gospel music industry, opened up about this life-changing moment in an interview with Andy Dosty on Accra-based Hitz FM’s Daybreak Hitz show.

In a candid conversation, Perez Musik recounted how the heartbreak set him on a path of transformation after indulging in worldly habits, including smoking.

“The truth is [that] it started with a heartbreak. Andy, don’t laugh at me. At that point, it was very painful. I’ve never told the story before but I will say it without mentioning names,” Perez Musik disclosed during the interview.

The heartbreak, according to the gospel artist, involved someone within the entertainment industry who betrayed his trust by getting involved with his then-girlfriend.

The betrayal, he noted, struck deep, especially because the person was a close friend.

“Somebody in the industry was hitting on my girlfriend back then,” he revealed. “I brought my girlfriend to visit me in the office. When I turned, he took the lady’s number. The next time, they were talking. And this was somebody that was my ‘buddy buddy.’ That’s why I don’t really make friends.”

During a casual outing with his friend, he made a shocking discovery when asked to use his friend’s phone for a call.

“I went out one day with him, and the guy gave me his phone to make a call. Then I saw my girlfriend’s display photo pop up on his phone,” he narrated. “I opened [the phone] and said ‘yo.’ I just gave the phone back to him and went home. I didn’t say anything to him. I just left.”
