Ghanaian musician Okyeame Kwame has revealed how he handles the challenges of raising children in the age of social media, particularly addressing the issue of pornography.

Speaking on Home Affairs with Edem Knight-Tay, he shared his approach to educating his children about the potential dangers they might encounter online.

“Some of the problems that we foresaw were around pornography. When my children became teenagers, we sat them down to talk about the dangers of things they might see online, including the negative and positive effects of watching pornography,” Okyeame Kwame explained.

He emphasized that rather than instilling fear by condemning pornography as inherently evil, he and his wife Annica chose to educate their children on how such content could impact their lives.

“I don’t tell them porn is bad because they’ll go to hell if they watch it. Once kids grow up and realize those warnings don’t hold, they may still do it.

“Instead, we focus on explaining how it affects them directly,” he said.

Okyeame also mentioned that they reward their children, Sir Kwame Bota and Sante, for engaging with educational websites while enforcing consequences when they break rules about gadget use.

The musician revealed that the couple closely monitors their children's social media activity to shield them from abuse and online risks.

He shared that he and his wife had established social media accounts and websites for their children at birth, knowing these platforms would be beneficial in the future.

"Our children grew up seeing us work in social media and brand management, so we set up their profiles early to secure their digital identities,” he added, stressing that “even now, they continue to supervise the children's online interactions.”
