Kwabena Kwabena’s manager, Nana Poku Ashis, has revealed that the popular Ghanaian musician was deceived by friends who took money meant for him after he composed a campaign song for the New Patriotic Party (NPP) in 2016.
According to Ashis, the friends who facilitated a meeting between Kwabena Kwabena and the NPP leadership allegedly collected funds on his behalf without his consent.
This left the artiste under the false impression that his services were voluntary.
“Some people charged on his head. Some of his friends that led him to go and meet the party leadership, charged on his head.
“So, the party knows that they've given Kwabena something through somebody. Where the money dey? He never got the money," Ashis disclosed during an interview with Joy Prime.
Ashis further explained that when Kwabena Kwabena approached the NPP to inquire about his payment, he was told that the money had already been disbursed, with supporting documents presented as proof.
He advised musicians to handle financial transactions directly when working with political parties.
Ashis urged artistes to treat campaign songs as business and charge accordingly to secure their interests.
