Gospel musician Jack Alolome has clarified that his motivation for composing a campaign song for the National Democratic Congress (NDC) and its Presidential Candidate, John Mahama, was driven by a desire to support the party’s vision, not financial gain.

Speaking with Kwame Dadzie on Joy FM’s Showbiz A-Z, Jack Alolome stated that the song “JM Begye Yen” was composed voluntarily to push Mahama's campaign.

“Nobody has given me any money,” he said, dismissing any speculation about monetary compensation.

However, he added that he would not turn down any form of appreciation that might come his way following the song’s release.

He stressed that his primary focus was on contributing to a change in leadership, expressing his belief that the NDC could rescue the country from its current challenges under the New Patriotic Party (NPP).

“I thought about the country first before doing the song. If anything comes later, Praise God. If that doesn’t happen too, all I am concerned about is to help rescue the country from the hands of the NPP,” he explained.

Jak Alolome joins a list of musicians who have publicly supported the NDC with music, including Nacee, Wayoosi, Mr. Beautiful, and the late Jewel Ackah.

The entertainment industry has also seen endorsements for the NDC from figures such as Big Akwes, Christiana Awuni, Mercy Asiedu, and Kofi Okyere Darko.

The NDC has outlined several policies aimed at revitalizing Ghana’s economy and creative arts sector, including the introduction of a 24-hour economy and the promotion of “The Black Star Experience” as Ghana’s flagship culture, arts, and tourism brand.

These initiatives are designed to make Ghana a preferred tourism destination and support local content creators, artists, and creative enterprises.
