Popular Ghanaian comedian and actor Clement Bonney, known professionally as "Mr. Beautiful," has shared his thoughts on polygamous marriage.

According to the famed Kumawood actor, attitudes towards polygamy may differ depending on one's economic status.

In an interview with Cape Coast radio station Property FM, Mr. Beautiful noted that financially poor people tend to get angry when multiple marriages are mentioned.

"In this world, if you don't have money and people talk about having multiple wives, you would see it as a pointless issue," said Mr. Beautiful.

"When you're broke or poor and they discuss people who have married two or three wives, you get angry and say it's stupid. But if you were rich, you'd realize that having multiple wives can actually be quite enjoyable," he said.

Meanwhile, there are several reasons why people react differently to polygamous marriages, including cultural, religious and financial factors.

Some religions prohibit polygamy while others accept it, similar to how some cultures agree with the practice and others oppose it.

Many also cite financial difficulties of maintaining a large family as the reason for their opposition to the idea of marrying multiple wives, as money to support everyone may be challenging.
