Popular Ghanaian reggae-dancehall artist Ras Kuuku has expressed support for former President John Mahama and his vision of implementing a 24-hour economy if elected into office in 2024.
In an interview with Accra-based Onua TV, Ras Kuuku said he believes John Mahama's proposed 24-hour economy concept promises great potential for Ghana.
According to the singer, the digitalization drive which is being proposed by NPP flagbearer Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia is already being felt in the country.
"For digitalisation, we have already been experiencing it. Ghana is gradually being digitized. But we haven’t seen the 24-hour economy before," Ras Kuuku stated.
He added, "It is something I want to see, so I would like for him [Mahama] to come and implement it so I can witness it."
The 24-hour economy initiative aims to transform Ghana into a service-driven country where various sectors operate around the clock.
This includes industries like tourism, hospitals, restaurants, shipping as well as aspects of agriculture and manufacturing.
Supporters argue it could boost productivity, increase revenue collection and create jobs for Ghanaians.
However, critics have say that in itself can not be said to be a policy but can be achieved as a by-product of several initiatives.
