Renowned Ghanaian music executive Richie Mensah has revealed that he only gets about an hour of sleep each night due to the stress and demands of running his record label, Lynx Entertainment.
In an interview with Accra-based Metro TV, Richie Mensah opened up about the challenges faced in Ghana's entertainment industry and how it impacts his personal well-being.
"I sleep ‘one hour’ a day because of this industry. In our industry, you are the producer, distributor, marketer, retailer... everything. There is no laid down structure so it becomes too difficult," Richie Mensah said on the Entertainment Review show.
The Lynx CEO lamented the lack of structure and defined roles within Ghana's music space.
According to him, individuals have to take on many responsibilities themselves due to this absence of an organized system.
"What we have in our industry is individual brilliance," Mensah said. "Any person you see doing good is (sic) they are good on their own are stand out. It is not in an industry where everything is automated."
He further explained that the difficulties are amplified for those aiming to succeed solely based on their talent, rather than personal connections or wealth.
"There is no laid down structure so it becomes too difficult if you don’t have the full ecosystem where you can just enter with your talent and thrive," Richie Mensah stated.
