Famed Nigerian twin musical duo P-Square, comprised of Peter and Paul Okoye, have been embroiled in an public disagreement for several years now.
In an open letter shared on social media on Monday, August 12, Peter Okoye, known as Mr. P, addressed the ongoing rift with his brother Rudeboy, Paul Okoye's stage name.
In the letter, Mr. P questioned Rudeboy's motivation for constantly "disrespecting and belittling" him in interviews over the years.
He referenced numerous interviews where Rudeboy has claimed to have written and sung the majority of P-Square's songs, leaving little credit to Mr. P.
Mr. P pushed back on these claims, saying "Neither of us is the most talented artist in the world, but you fail to understand that God gave us this talent."
He acknowledged both of their talents but emphasized that their success came from their "combined effort - us two!"
Regarding Rudeboy's interviews taking sole credit for songs, Mr. P countered: "You never acknowledged the other songs like 'Get-Squared,' 'Bizzy Body,' 'Personally,' 'Roll It,' 'Temptation,' 'Alingo,' 'More than a Friend,' 'Shekini,' 'Say Your Love,' 'Gimme Dat,' 'Senorita,' 'IGBEdu,' and a few others. Were these songs also considered failures as well?"
In the letter, Mr. P expressed frustration over Rudeboy constantly using "I" and "me", rather than acknowledging their work as a group using "we" and "us” interviews.
He pushed back on Rudeboy portraying himself as "everything including P-SQUARE's video director, band, promoter, manager, even the choreographer."
