Ghanaian musician Ofori Amponsah has openly acknowledged his shortcomings as a father, expressing regret over not being actively involved in the life of his daughter with socialite Ayisha Modi.
In an interview with popular blogger Zionfelix, Amponsah admitted that despite fulfilling financial responsibilities such as his daughter's education and other needs, he felt a distance in their relationship.
"Yes, I have a child with her [Ayisha Modi], I even called her on her 18th birthday to wish her well. But there is a bit of distance between us, and I have never been a good father," confessed Ofori Amponsah.
The musician, known for his contributions to Ghana's music industry, expressed concern for not spending enough time with his daughter, who resides in the United States of America.
While acknowledging his efforts in providing for her education abroad, he stressed the importance of a deeper emotional connection.
"Not at all, because I should have been more present for the child, even though I take care of her schooling abroad, but the connection is key too," he lamented.
Despite maintaining communication through phone calls, Ofori Amponsah acknowledged the limitations of distant interactions.
He explained, "I have to do more as a father; it has been something I have been pondering over all the time. Because they are outside the country, we normally talk on the phone, and that is not the best. However, I am there for her, and I pray for her all the time too."
