Renowned Ghanaian Gospel singer and evangelist, Diana Asamoah, has confidently proclaimed that Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia will emerge victorious in the 2024 presidential elections.
Speaking during an interview on Hitz FM's ‘Day Break Hitz’ show, Evangelist Diana Asamoah declared her support for the New Patriotic Party (NPP) and revealed plans to release a campaign song for Dr. Bawumia.
When asked by the host, Andy Dosty, about her endorsement of the NPP, she responded, "I am still supporting NPP, and very soon, I will even drop a campaign song for Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia."
The Gospel singer expressed her belief in Dr. Bawumia's electoral chances, stating, "Everyday God does new things, so he will do it again."
When questioned if she will be disappointed if Bawumia does not win, she said "Nana Addo has contested and lost before, but I wasn't disappointed and supported him till he won, so Dr. Bawumia will win in Jesus' name."
Addressing her involvement in politics and allegiance to the NPP, Evangelist Diana Asamoah defended her right to openly express her political preferences, citing examples from other countries where celebrities openly support politicians.
She highlighted examples in the United States, where celebrities openly declared their support for President Obama during his election campaigns.
“Looking at Obama, when he was running for president, all the celebrities supported him, so why can't we celebrities in Ghana also choose who to support?” she questioned.
Diana Asamoah further noted that politics began in Heaven and exists in various aspects of life, even in the church.
She said, “Do you know politics started in Heaven? It exists in all aspects of our daily lives, at work, church, and even in Heaven.”
She referred to the Bible, specifically the war in heaven, where the devil attempted to seize power from God, as an example of the political dynamics at play in different realms.
“When God made the devil in charge of all the singers in Heaven, the devil wanted to take over power in heaven. That is politics,” she explained.
