Ghanaian dancehall singer Epixode has come to the defence of his dancehall colleague Stonebwoy, following the latter’s failure to gain a Grammy nomination.
Stonebwoy submitted his recent 5th Dimension for the Recording Academy’s consideration for a nomination in the Global Album of the Year category.
However, the nominees released on Friday, November 10, excluded the Ghanaian act which saw fans of his opponents ridiculing him on social media.
Having noticed this, Epixode asserted in a tweet that looking at the hard work done the year under review by the Bhim Nation President, he remains a winner in his books.
“Dear Stonebwoy, You are a winner to me, a Legend that will always be celebrated. You have done enough for us and we appreciate it. Bro take your flowers whilst u are still here. Grammy or no Grammy am proud of you,” he wrote.
The conversation about Ghanaian artists not winning Grammys like the Nigerians do has been long-running.
Many music enthusiasts in the country anticipated a Ghanaian would be nominated following the creation of the African Music Performance category last year.
However, the category had four Nigerians, namely Asake, Ayra Starr, Burna Boy and Davido and one other South African singer.
