Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu has mourned the passing of singer Ilerioluwa Aloba, known in showbiz as Mohbad, promising that anyone connected to his death will face justice.
The governor issued a statement Tuesday following the announcement of Mohbad's death at age 27 on September 12.
"I am not oblivious to the sad passing of Ilerioluwa Oladimeji Imole Aloba (Mohbad). We have been closely working behind the scenes with relevant authorities and keenly following the ongoing investigations," Sanwo-Olu said.
"However, in order to boost the investigations, I have invited the Department of State Services (DSS) to join the investigation and widen the dragnet with inter-agency collaboration and the use of best-in-class technology to unearth the truth," he continued.
The governor instructed that "all those who may have played any role whatsoever in any event leading to the death of MohBad be made to face the law after a thorough investigation."
The Governor pleaded for those with vital information to come forward, promising confidentiality and protection for witnesses.
He also cautioned Mohbad's friends and fans to "stay calm and refrain from making inflammatory utterances and reaching prejudicial conclusions" as investigations proceed, calling it the "most solemn tribute to the memory of the departed talent."
Mohbad's controversial death has sparked protests and calls for justice on social media.
