The Nigerian Police Force has announced an investigation into the death of rising afrobeat star MohBad.

In a statement on Thursday, September 14, the Force Public Relations Officer said "We understand the concerns surrounding his untimely demise and the various speculations that have arisen."

The statement added "The Nigeria Police Force is committed to a comprehensive investigation into this matter, as the Lagos State Commissioner of Police has been tasked to unravel the circumstances surrounding his death."

It urged those with information to assist with the investigation.

"We encourage family members or close associates with valuable information to approach the Lagos State Commissioner of Police to assist in this process," the police spokesperson said.

They asked the public to refrain from speculation to avoid jeopardizing the investigation.

27-year-old Ilerioluwa Oladimeji Aloba, known by his stage name MohBad, passed away on September 12th.

As is customary for Muslims, he was buried less than 24 hours later. However, his early demise has prompted questions from fans and concerns about foul play.

Prior to his death, MohBad had reportedly claimed his life was under threat from former label boss Naira Marley of Marlian Records, where he was signed until parting ways in 2022.

While Naira Marley has not been named a suspect, the speculation has prompted the police probe.
