
The Nigerian music industry is mourning the sudden death of budding star MohBad.
The 27-year-old singer, whose real name was Ilerioluwa Oladimeji Aloba, reportedly passed away on Tuesday, September 12.
The news of MohBad's sudden passing was confirmed on Twitter by music executive Ovie O and rapper Olamide, both expressing deep sadness over the tragic loss. The cause of death is still unknown at this time.
MohBad broke out into the music scene in 2020 with his hit single "Ponmo" featuring Nigerian artists Naira Marley and Lil Kesh.
The song became a viral sensation across the country. He went on to release his debut EP "Light" later that year to further critical acclaim.
In 2021, MohBad was nominated for 5 awards at the Beatz Awards and was listed among Audiomack's Top 21 Afrobeat Artists of the year.
His collaboration "KPK" with producer Rexxie earned 3 Headies Award nominations in 2022.
Most recently, MohBad had left Marlian Records, the label of Naira Marley, to pursue an independent career.
