I haven’t received any payment from ‘Low Tempo’ track I did with Shatta Wale – Michy discloses

The “Low Tempo” track is a song featuring Shatta Michy and her ex-partner, Ghanaian dancehall star Shatta Wale.

It was released in 2017 and became a hit in Ghana. However, Shatta Michy has now revealed that despite the song gaining over 5 million views on YouTube, she has not received any royalties or payments for her work on the song.

She says this is because at the time the song was released, she didn't understand how music royalties work and the song was registered under Shatta Wale's name on YouTube and other platforms.

Upon learning that the Low Tempo song has received over 5 million views, Shatta Michy was shocked and asked if there was a way she could claim the proceeds owed her from the song's success.

“I have not received a single cedi from any song I’ve made. So far as it is connected with that page [Shatta Wale’s Youtube] I’ve not earned anything,” she disclosed.

“Do you know of a way I can take it? It’s 5 million views now? Wow,” she shockingly reacted.

‘Low Tempo’, which has a slower tempo than most of Shatta Wale's other songs, has a romantic theme and features both artists singing about their love for each other.

The track has become a fan favorite and has been played at numerous events and parties in Ghana and beyond.
