Popular Nigerian actor and politician Yul Edochie has reiterated the patriotic side of him.

The Nollywood giant says he will never rest until his country achieves the standard it needs in development.

In a tweet on Monday, March 20, the widely-known filmmaker promised to give his all to make sure that Nigeria rises to the occasion in terms of development.

The actor stressed that he lives in his country and can never sit aloof and watch it destroy like that.

"I will never give up on my country. Nigeria will work in my lifetime, and I will contribute all I can in making it work," the actor wrote.

He concludes, "I love this country."

On July 14, 2017, Edochie declared his intention to run for governor of Anambra State.

This declaration was made in anticipation of a "not too young to run" bill passed by the senate of the federal government of Nigeria.

The declaration was however made official on the 22nd of August 2017, when he picked up the nomination form of the Democratic Peoples Congress political party and was eventually the flag bearer and gubernatorial candidate of the party to run for governor of Anambra State.

In spite of his fame, he took the 19th position out of the 37 candidates that ran for the same post.

Yul Edochie even declared his intention to run for the post of President of Nigeria in the 2023 presidential elections but never did.
