I deserve to be nominated as Artiste of the Year in all award schemes – DJ Azonto

A popular Ghanaian disc jockey and singer, DJ Azonto, known privately as Mark Kwesi Arthur, has boasted about his impact in the Ghanaian music industry.

The vocal entertainer, while touting his supposedly unmatched achievement in the music industry since the release of his viral track, "Fa No Fom," said he deserves an Artiste of the Year award.

The hitmaker asserted that there should be no award scheme that will not reject his nomination as "artist of the year" because he has worked more than those who have been nominated for the category.

The versatile entertainer stressed that he had a fantastic, self-organized show year under review, which should have been a deciding factor for the VGMAs to have nominated him for Artiste of the Year.

"I deserve to be nominated as Artiste of the Year in all award schemes. I fully deserve it. I had my own concert, which was sold out. I have performed in all parts of the country," he said, as quoted by WatSup TV online.

Speaking in an interview with Amansan Krakye on Cape Coast-based Property Radio’s Showbiz program, DJ Azonto noted that he filed for six nominations for the upcoming VGMAs but was only granted one, the New Act of the Year.

"I filed for Artiste of the Year, New Artiste of the Year, Best Songwriter, Hiplife Song of the Year, Vodafone Most Popular Song of the Year, and Best Afropop Song," he said.
