Disc Jockeys popular known as DJs play an integral role in our Music Industry.

For many years, DJs have been the Catalyst of this industry and as you know with Catalyst, they have activated a lot of shows without necessarily activating themselves.

At Parties, Weddings, Funerals, engagements, Night Clubs, Seminars, Radio and TV shows the DJ was always there to bring live to the occasion but was always situated in some obscure corner.

The DJ was always the first at an event and the last to leave, yet no one really bothered to know if he had eaten or drunk anything. In fact, they only remembered him when they wanted to request a particular song to dance.

Back in the day, a few of them like Azigiza Jr and the likes really activated themselves to the extent of even releasing their own songs and also receiving the same treatment as an Artist but this activation was more individualistic than a broad culture.

Presently we have great DJs like Andy Dosty, DJ Black, Killer Fingers, DJ Vyrusky etc really plying the trade in a professional way as individuals.

Indeed it took a young DJ called Merqury Quaye who for years studied the trade and went through the mill to bring everyone together to really activate the Profession in a collective and proactive manner.

Now, our DJs, to a large extent, are really commanding the respect they deserve due to the power of being united through a union known as DJUGA (DJs Union Of Ghana) and even have their own Awards Scheme.

As human as Merqury is, he has had his shortcomings and also some difficult times as well but, in all this, have persevered to see his own breed united for over a decade now.

Now known as the Father of all DJs, Merquery Quaye is the Founder of the Ghana DJ Awards and this year is their 10th anniversary under the theme 'The Greatest' which promises to be a great one.

Kudos to all DJs and let's go out there and support them since without them our Music won't Move.

We wish them all the best and hope to see them spread that United wings through the entire African Continent so that even if we can't see Africa Unite through leadership we can at least see Africa Unite through Music.
