As prices of most goods and services in the country continue to rise, renowned actress Nikki Samonas has expressed shock at the price of tomatoes.

The actress may have gone to Madina Market to purchase some tomatoes but was taken aback by the prices.

Taking to her Twitter page, the actress shared, “tomatoes at Madina market are 1 billion Ghc per 100gram now. What did we do wrong as a country?”

Earlier on, celebrated Ghanaian comedian DKB lamented about the high cost of food items in the country in February this year.

Reacting to the situation, DKB wondered why there was an increase in almost every food item in the market each day after he bought four tiny pieces of tomatoes for Ghc4.00.

He said he had wanted to prepare some salad after he had visited the gym.

“So I guess what I just got back from the gym and I bought some tomatoes to prepare salad but look at this. These four abandoned tomatoes have been sold to me at four cedis.

"Eii Ghana! Prices of things keep going high every single day. How can you sell a tomato for one cedi? These puberty tomatoes,” he stated in the post.

Meanwhile, some Ghanaian celebrities including Lydia Forson, John Dumelo, Serwaa Amihere, Yvonne Nelson, and others have expressed worry about the state of the nation’s economy.
