Ghanaian singer Jehoshaphat Kwabena Eshun, known as Skrew Faze, has said his comment about some music from new artistes was not to attract attention.

The “Gbalazaa” artiste is alleged to have said in an interview that many songs being released are full of noise with no content.

The musician, who received backlash for his comment, said he did not mean to offend any artiste but he genuinely thinks that Ghanaian artistes can do more than just release no content songs.

Speaking on Daybreak Hitz on Hitz FM Skrew Faze said “I never for once said all the songs are noisy, I said most of them are very good but some of them too are noisy” and does not understand why some people think he made his comments to attract attention.

“If you say I’m looking for attention I don’t get it. I have been in this industry quite some time the fact that you don’t hear from me doesn’t mean I’m not doing my underground stuff,” Skrew Faze stated.

The artiste said people have also focused more on his comment about the some of the songs being noisy and nothing was said about most of the songs being good.

“When you listen to the interview, I made it clear that was my opinion. To me I watched a couple of songs on tv and you don’t hear anything (content wise) and I also said some songs are good,” he told Andy Dosty, host of Daybreak Hitz.

Skrew Faze said he expected people who were commenting to check what he really said and not judge based on what they have heard on air or from other people.

He explained he took years to build his career and does not need controversy to be known.

“I’m still playing my shows, I’m still working doing for what I have to do as an artist why would I seek for attention?” he quizzed.
