As Ghanaians mark the country’s founder’s birthday on Friday, September 21, two spoken word artists have tasked citizens to have a second look at the state of Ghana.

Born on September 21, 1909, Ghana’s first President, Dr Kwame Nkrumah, celebrated the world over, is known for helping Ghana gain independence in 1957.

Due to his unrelenting quest to see countries on the African continent liberated, he was voted Africa’s ‘Man of the Millennium’ by listeners of the BBC.

The two spoken word artists, Ammishaddai Ofori and Enoch Adom Amaning Onwanwani (Amaze), delivered creative pieces, on the Super Morning Show (SMS) on Joy FM with Daniel Dadzie, that highlighted the state of Ghana 61 years after it gained independence from the British.

Ammishaddai Ofori performed ‘Ministry of Zongos’, ‘Normal’ and ‘The Ignorance of Arrogance and the Arrogance of Ignorance’.

Mr Ofori, apart from being a Spoken word artist, is also a Value Added Services Lead at Bluespace.

Amaze, who is a Performing Arts student at the University of Ghana, Legon, also delivered masterpieces titled: ‘Native of this Nation’, ‘Tan Ohia’, ‘Nyame Adom’ and ‘Highlife’.
