Vagabonds will be the longest short film you ever watch – in the best way!

Written and directed by Amartei Armar, the story follows two orphaned brothers Owusu (Idrissu Tontie Jnr) and Gyasi (Asher Fiifi), who live in an orphanage under the guardianship of Madam Gifty (Nana Ama McBrown).

The brothers live a humble life but share a strong bond, the opening scene solidifies this when we see Owusu taking care of Gyasi in the midst of a crisis. Their world is turned upside down when Gyasi is selected for adoption by an American family.

Owusu realises that the brothers will be torn apart, and must now come to terms with either his brother being taken away or finding a way for them to be together, even if it means braving the unknown world outside the orphanage walls.

Aside from the stunning cinematography and gripping story, the real heroes are first time actors Idrissu Tontie and Fiifi Asher who gave flawless performances with a natural and sincere delivery. It is safe to say that Vagabonds has birthed two new stars!

Vagabonds is the first film Ghanaian-American director Amartei Armar shot in his “fatherland” Ghana.

The film was an official selection at this year's Black Star International Film Festival (BSIFF).
