Rapper M.anifest says it will be ridiculous if indeed musicians took money to perform at late dancehall musician Ebony's tribute concert.

The 'Azuma Flow' crooner made said this in an interview with Sammy Forson on the Cosmopolitan Mix on Joy FM.

His comments follow the recent back and forth between father of the late artiste, Nana Opoku Kwarteng and manager, Bullet over monies allegedly paid to artiste for their performances at the concert.

A document released by the late Ebony's father showed names of artistes written in ink and the amount they were allegedly paid for performing at the tribute concert.

The document stated;

  1. Edem – ¢3,000
  2. Keche – ¢3,000
  3. Captain Planet – ¢2,000
  4. Coded – ¢1,000
  5. R2bees – ¢3,000
  6. Ras Kuku – ¢1,000
  7. Raquel – ¢1,000
  8. Kurl Songs – ¢1,000
  9. Episode – ¢7,00

MCs:

  1. DKB – ¢1,000
  2. Ogee (late Ebony’s hypeman) – ¢500

DJs:

  1. DJ Shiwawa – ¢500

It also stated that ¢4,000 was given to the media as ‘soli.’

Reacting to these revelations, rapper M.anifest stated that one must be heartless to benefit from someone's death

“It would be ridiculous if anybody did receive money for this. It would be their right but so unethical and you'd have to have a certain kind of heartlessness to be benefiting from someone's death,” he said.

The rapper added that “Ghana, we talk ‘a good game’ but I don't think that there's a lot of good ethical standing with a lot of people when nobody is watching.

"So we all have to keep ourselves in check and hold ourselves to higher standards not just about sound I g good in the media, so even me talking here right now, I better walk the talk.”

He, however, advised individuals to be circumspect in reacting to issues. According to him, one must fact check before speaking to issues

"We should be more circumspect when talking about things, a little bit of research because we sometimes go off allegations so much. Nowadays, all one needs to do is to allege something, you don't even need proof,” M.anefest said.

He cited that, “I can create a website today called Ns3mfunu.com, put a new story on, and the next thing is it's going to be carried on all platforms and that's one of the problems we have. We give anything credibility once it's sensational.”
