It was a night of glam and euphoria at the plush Kempinski Gold Coast Hotel in Accra on July 6, 2018 as District Governor (DG) Jeffrey Afful was inducted into office as the new district governor at a dazzling dinner event.

The ceremony was to officially welcome the new DG and his team to office to lead the district for the next Rotary year.

Rotary International District 9102 (RI D9102) is one of the over 500 districts in the global organisation made up of four countries – Benin, Ghana, Niger and Togo.

DG Jeffrey Afful was inducted into the Rotary family over 20 years ago as a Rotaractor. He became the president of both the Rotaract and Rotary Clubs of Accra-Ring Road Central (RRC) in the 1998/99 and 2008/9 Rotary years respectively.

He has held many positions and served in various roles in the organisation. He is a quantity surveyor and project management professional. He is a multiple Paul Harris fellow and a benefactor to The Rotary Foundation.

The evening started with the recognition of District 9102 Rotary leaders and special invited guests.

The exhilarating ceremonial transfer of the chain of office from the previous District Governor, PDG Ari Toubo, to DG Jeffrey Afful, which was heralded by songs streaming from the guitar of silky smooth angelic voiced Sandra Huson and the appellations from the Fapempong Acheampong amidst drumming, kicked off a fantastic night of fellowship, dining and inspiring speeches.

Rotarians and their guests also witnessed the launch of a new district app and the outdooring of the new Rotary cloth in different designs. The evening ended on a fun-filled note of dancing and socialising.
