Kasoa-based Pink 96.9FM will launch its 10th anniversary celebration this week to announce a week-long celebration with a series of activities lined up to entertain its listeners and fans.

The month-long celebration is expected to attract a large number of radio listeners, friends of the station, musicians and other important personalities.

Some of the activities lined up include a float through the principal streets of Kasoa, dinner and awards night and a street jam which will feature award-winning artistes, among others.

As part of the anniversary programme, 500 widows will also be feted by the management of the station as part of its corporate social responsibility.

The operations manager of the station, William Aduhene, in an interview with BEATWAVES, disclosed that Pink FM started operating in August 2008 when politics had taken over all radio stations “and station was introduced as an alternative to give Ghanaians a refreshing programming to make up for the loss on the airwaves.”

He pointed out that the station has religiously been involved in a lot of social activities over the past years, with the aim of adding value to radio programming.

On his part, the general manager of the station, Godwin Addai Baffour Jnr., said even though the station has been operating from the Kasoa area for the past decade, management took advantage of the radio station's capacity of being heard in Accra to venture into the saturated Accra radio listenership market.

He stated that the station would continue to focus on its core function of educating, informing and entertaining listeners.

Mr Addai Baffour Jnr also congratulated some of the station's presenters such as Romeo Acquah (Drive Time host), Prince Appiah Kubi (programmes manager), Eric Akoto (host of Pink FM Gospel Show) and Daniel Narh for their contribution towards the growth of the station.
