Not Every Gig Needs Contract Promotion – Trigmatic

Not Every Gig Needs Contract Promotion – Trigmatic
13.08.2018 LISTEN

Musician cum broadcaster, Trigmatic has added his voice to the ongoing brouhaha between promoters and artiste as to whether musicians should promote events that they are billed to perform at, with or without a contract.

According to the “Where We Dey Go” singer, in an interview on Zylofon FM’s Showbiz Agenda, artistes should be involved in promotional works ahead of the events.

He told Sammy Flex, host of the show that it is to a greater advantage to the artiste if he or she involves himself or herself in the promotional activities.

Trig explained that, musicians enjoy relevance in the eyes of fans if they make appearances for interviews, photo shoots and the likes, all with the motive of promoting the event.

He also pointed out that, if the event attracts masses, it is not only to the benefit of the promoter, but also to the artistes.

He opined, “if attendance is good, you gain more fans and more following as an artiste”

However, Trig encouraged that the need for artistes availability for promotions should be included in the contract, as that is the right way of doing things.

“Promoters need to sit with the artistes and their managers to discuss, the returns artistes gain from promoting events, because at the long run, they are not mandated to do so without contract”, he added.
