If you are feeling sad and would want some happiness in your life then you should anticipate the Ghana Carnival and Homofest 2018 put together by the Ministry of Tourism, Arts and Culture.

The Ghana Carnival aims at showcasing the country’s art while Homofest will celebrate the indigenous Homowo festival by the Ga-Adangbes.

In an interview with JoyNews’ Maxwell Amoofia at the launch of the events at Accra City Hotel, the Minister of Tourism, Arts and Culture, Catherine Afeku, explained the essence of creativity and happiness at this year’s edition.

“Why not [happiness]? We tend to relegate happiness in some other box. In some other parts of the world they actually make concerted efforts to promote happiness...,” she said.

The two events will be organized by the Ministry of Tourism, Arts and Culture (MoTAC) in collaboration with the Accra Metropolitan Assembly (AMA), the Ministry of Trade and Industry, the Manna Mountain Consulting Limited, and the Global Media Alliance.

Ghana Carnival 2018 is scheduled for July 1 and 2 under the theme: “Using Arts and Culture to promote our economy”.

The carnival will see the exhibition of Ghanaian art as well as the promotion of culture in the form of dance, food, music among others.

An artistic procession through the principal streets of Accra will also be witnessed during the carnival.

Homofest 2018 will see the celebration of the homogeneous festival of the Ga-Adangbes in the Greater Accra Region.

This event will in a way climax the various celebrations by the different Ga communities.

Present at the launch of the Ghana Carnival and Homofest 2018 were Nii Kinka Dowuna VI, President of the Greater Accra Regional House of Chiefs and Paramount Chief of Osu Traditional Area, the Deputy Minister of the Ministry of Tourism, Arts and Culture, Dr. Ziblim Iddi, the Mayor of Accra, Mohammed Nii Adjei Sowah and other dignitaries.
