‘Afro Pop Song of the Year’ nominee Kurl Songx has blamed Charterhouse for his inability to win an award at just ended Vodafone Ghana Music Awards (VGMA).

He claims that the exclusion of his song, ‘Jennifer Lomotey’ in the ‘Highlife Song of the Year’ category cost him the award for the category.

Speaking to Andy Dosty on Daybreak Hitz, the ‘Jennifer Lomotey’ hitmaker said that he has been marginalized by the VGMA Board.

Kurl Songx was nominated in three categories namely: ‘Best Collaboration’, ‘Best New Artiste’, and ‘Afro Pop Song of the Year’. He raised concerns about his ‘highlife’ song ‘Jennifer Lomotey’ being nominated in the Afro Pop song category.

According to him, his management contacted Charterhouse to rectify, what they deemed, an obvious mistake.

He noted that the Public Relations Officer of Charterhouse, George Quaye said it was an oversight.

“...We contacted Charterhouse’s George Quaye and he said it was an oversight. I have been sidelined and I am not happy about it. I don’t understand why they said it was an oversight. Am I an oversight artiste...?”

Meanwhile, George Quaye has, in a reaction, denied the claims.

He told Andy Dosty on Daybreak Hitz on Hitz FM that the VGMA Board is accountable for every decision they take.

“...Why would I say it’s an oversight? The board’s works are not an oversight. When the board has done its work, it cannot be an oversight. You can have your opinions and debate about it but the board takes full responsibility for every decision they take...,” he said.

Kurl Songx is of the view that he deserved to be given an equal platform as given to his colleagues Kuami Eugene and Kidi who both won awards at the 2018 awards.
