Ghana’s foremost English-broadcasting station, Joy 99.7 FM, in the month of March, took listeners on four easy-to-remember trips around the countryside dubbed ‘Fantastic Four’ tour.

It was four successive weekends of crisscrossing the western and eastern parts of Ghana in a month christened ‘Ghana Month’ to experience some of the country’s stunningly attractive tourist sites.

The Fantastic Four tour was a month-long activity to mark the Multimedia Group's Ghana Month celebrations.

For some, the Fantastic Four series was an opportunity to move away and refresh the mind from the unending frightening traffic in the national capital.

What initially appeared a fanciful idea at conception, turned out funfilled, fulfilling and fantastic, when it hit the road on March 10 with ‘Ogua Conquest’.

The exciting trip to the Central Region took patrons to the Cape Coast Castle, the Kakum National Park and to the crocodiles at the Hans Cottage Hotel.

At the 'Gate of No Return' at the Cape Coast Castle, some of the patrons shed tears as they were shown the gate that led directly to the slave ships.

Next was the trip to Afadja in the Volta Region where scores of the revelers scored a first when they dared the highest point of Ghana, the 885m Afadjato on March 17.

Standing that high above sea level, they got to see the sprawling greenery and peace that typify the countryside and away with the fairies, it was for some patrons.

Travelling from Accra, patrons including the host of Joy FM's Strong and Sassy host, Naa Ashorkor and popular actor John Dumelo, were part of about 50 tourists packed up with backups to brave this whole new world.

"Here we come. We are ready to conquer", they chanted as they landed at the foot of the mountain trail.

Chit-chatting, the patrons trudged a chiseled pathway to get to the summit and they did not hide delight at an achievement that will live in their memory.

There they experienced living in a village built on stilts.

The tour team made its first stop at Fort St. Antonio, a place some of the revelers had no idea existed.
