JAN 19, 2018 LISTEN

President of the Musicians Union of Ghana (MUSIGA), Bice Osei Kuffour, popularly known as Obour, might be dragged to court soon for copyright infringement, BEATWAVES has learnt.

Abrantie Amakye Dede has accused Obour of auctioning a compilation of his musical works at the MUSIGA Presidential Grand Ball held on December 29, 2017 at the Banquet Hall of the State House in Accra without his knowledge.

“Obour is not my manager and also not my public relations officer so he has no legal right to do a compilation of my musical works for sale,” he mentioned.

The musician was quick to add that he is ever ready to settle the issue out of court “if only MUSIGA and Obour are ready to pay him the money they raised from the sale of my compilation album at the event.”

“I am not happy with MUSIGA and Obour. I am yet to instruct my lawyers to file a writ against them for copyright infringement,” he stated.

It would be recalled that in 2013, Obour and MUSIGA used Amakye Dede’s name to advertise the Ghana Music Week & Unity Concert slated for Wednesday, March 6, 2013 without seeking for his approval.

He personally called to warn MUSIGA to desist from using his name to advertise the event but they refused.
