The Van Vicker’s School Of Performing Arts was over the weekend launched with a call on Liberians to take advantage of the opportunity to showcase the rich culture of Liberia to the world

Speaking in an interview with Reporters on the campus of the school on Benson Street in Central Monrovia, Mr. Van Vicker, a Liberian-Ghanaian Artist said the establishment of the school was his own way of helping to promote and identify Liberian talents in performing arts.

He said that the mission of the school, amongst other things is designed to educate artists and future artists with practical, hands-on experiences in Fine and Performing Arts, Film/Stage, Music(Voice Coaching), Piano, Guitar and Drum lessons.

He also said that the school is designed to educate artists in Spiritual, Ballet, Tap, Jazz, Modern, Hip-Hop, African, Chinese ,Indian, Lebanese, Dance, Musical Theater and Broadcasting.

In a aseperate Ghana with Ghanacreativearts.com he said that , that the school is dedicated to providing an outlet of Fine Arts Education to children, youths and young adults of Liberia. He pointed out that the teaching staff is comprised of an educated body of Filmmakers, Dancers and Actors that will fly into Liberia to provide industry-driven training to its students.

Mr. Vicker, a household name in Africa including Liberia is ascending the ladder of success in the film industry in the United States of America as well.

According to the Actor, the program will consist of classes that will develop Producers, Directors of Photography, Actors, Actresses, Dancers, etc.

“Our balanced initiative is an intensive schedule that is effective in preparing young filmmakers, dancers, singers, musicians, performers in the world of film making and arts etc.” He further said that at the end of the semester, the performing arts students will put on major productions with an emphasis on addressing solutions that will help to heal our nation.

Mr. Vicker stressed that the film production students will do a film that highlights the rich history and culture of Liberia and countries around the world.
