DEC 15, 2017 LISTEN

Reggae, Dancehall and Afrobeat artiste, Stonebwoy has urged the media to desist from comparing musicians in the Ghanaian music industry.

The 'People Dey' singer made the call in an interaction with Andy Dosty on Daybreak Hitz on Hitz FM.

In the interview, he stressed that artistes are different and they produce their songs for the progress of the music industry.

Stonebwoy noted that the industry should be full of variety hence comparing of artistes goes a long way to dampen zeal of many artistes.

“...we don't need to destroy somebody to move but I've realised that on this side of our industry, it has become a norm to compare every little thing. I know the effect and it dampens down the heat of many artistes,” he observed.

The 'My Name' singer further noted that it will rather be fair if the media and other entertainment critics take the initiative to encourage artistes to do more to boost their career and the industry as a whole.

“...nobody has to even try to compare any artiste but rather, we have to encourage one another and acknowledge what each artiste has done. The strict comparison to see who has reached higher heights is not good...,” he said.

The Bhim Nation CEO added that Ghanaian musicians and stakeholders should rather emulate how Nigerians have been able to develop their music rather than fighting them.

"...make we support ourselves. Make we copy the Nigerians..," the artiste, born Livingstone Etse Satekla, said.

Stonebwoy, who is preparing for his Bhim Nation concert, released his third studio album titled ‘Epistles of Mama (EOM)’ on Tuesday.

This year’s Bhim Concert dubbed the ‘EOM (Epistles of Mama) Album Release Edition’ is set to take place again on December 22 at the Accra International Conference Centre.
