Known for its famed mountains, communities in the Kwahu area have for decades hosted thousands every year during the Easter festivities.

During such times especially from Good Friday, through to Easter Monday, traffic is jammed right from Nkawkaw all the way up to Obomeng, where a host of activities is organised for the thousands of tourists both local and international who visit the area.

However, Kwahu is set to establish its mark in the area of entertainment, as Ghana’s finest musicians of diverse genres and generation, descend on the mountainous area of the Eastern Region for the first ever music festival dubbed, ‘Bliss on the Hills’.

Over 30 artistes –Gospel, Hi-life and Hip-life –are lacing their climbing shoes to stage a memorable musical show this Christmas, starting from the 24th through to 26th December.

Old Timers’ night will see Hi-life greats like evergreen Amakye Dede, legendary Nana Ampadu, Aberekyereba Kofi Sammy, Nana Tufuor among others, relive their days with back-to-back hits of old on the eve of Christmas.

Lovers of Gospel music will have their turn on 25th as S.P Kofi Sarpong, Nacee, Kojo Ampong, Piesie Esther, Nicholas Omane Acheampong to mention a few, line up for the Gospel Night show.

On Boxing Day, Patapaa, Shata Wale, Ebony, Stone Bwoy, Wutah and many others, will shake the mountains at the Hip-life Night. All events have been scheduled to take off at 7pm at Abetifi.

Organisers of Bliss on the Hills, Media Excel, say the aim of the yearly program is to promote the arts and culture with Kwahu as the center for entertainment in Ghana and West Africa.

The event is also intended to create and promote sustainable businesses, as well as open up job opportunities for the people of the Eastern Region through the arts.
