Isaac Nortey Evicted From Stars of the Future

Few minutes into the first eviction of this year's Stars of the Future competition, as seen on TV last Wednesday, captured a stage so tensed; one could have probably cut through with a knife.

Eyes were red, arms were restless and tongues were simply too tight to talk. But not until some magic moments! Before the declaration of who goes home on the night of the first eviction, the award for the Areeba Golden Moment was given.

This special award is a new one introduced to weekly reward competitors who are able to thrill fans of the competition to the max at the recording of the weekly performances.

And for brilliantly singing Mercy Me's I Can Only Imagine, 26 year old Daniel Adobaw swiftly swept away the maiden Areeba Golden Moment Award. The award was for his performance last week. Daniel competed with Fredrica, Noble, and Justice for this award.

Alas the dreaded moment came and when Isaac's name was mentioned as the first evictee of the competition, his mood was that of mixed feelings. Interestingly, it was rather his colleagues in the competition who shed tears for him.

For his first performance, Isaac, who sang Phil Collins' Another Day in Paradise, was not his very best - according to judges. In Nana's on words on that day: “There was something missing and in a competition such as this, you need to be careful of your choice of songs”.

On the day of the eviction, he, together with the 11 other contestants were shown minutes of their performances over the week, and this, perhaps gave each another moment to access his or her own performance.

Still in the competition are Sandra, Betty, Clare, Fredrica, Ishmael, Ernest, Noble, Justice, Akill, Twum Barima and Daniel. The general public contributes 60% of the voting process while the judges sum it up with the remaining 40%. Perhaps, the biggest question asked is, who drives away the sleek VW Polo Sedan car by Universal Motors at the end of the competition?

Subsequent weeks of the competition will see competitors singing different genres of songs which will in one way or the other determine who leaves the competition.

Even though Isaac is out of the competition, he did not go home empty handed. He received 2million cedis and hampers from LG and FC Beauty Klinik. Stars of the Future 2007 is sponsored by Areeba, GTV, Universal Motors, Close-Up, LG and Castle Milk Stout.
