Ghanaian fashion designer and CEO of Kweku Outluk, Isaac Frimpong-Manso, has asked the country’s celebrities to continue to support local fashion brands by wearing their designs.

He also stated that they should give up-and-coming designers a chance to clothe them.

That, he indicated, would not only help the local fashion industry but also promote Ghana to the world.

Isaac, who was speaking in an interview with NEWS-ONE on Monday, has expressed enthusiasm with how Ghanaian celebrities have so far been embracing local designs in the last few years.

According to him, the fashion is doing well but it can't work in isolation. It needs the activities of celebrities to further push Ghana's fashion brands out there.

“Our celebrities have been pivotal in supporting local fashion brands. I can speak for myself. Most of the celebrities I design for they have been very helpful.

Talk about people like Adjetey Anang, Nathaniel Attoh, Kalybos, Kafui Dey and others they have been very supportive. They even go to extent of linking me to new clients. It is a good thing and they should give the up-and-coming designers a chance to also clothe them.

They are really helping and I must recommend them,” he mentioned.

“Sometimes it is difficult to get through some celebrities. Not everybody will open up to you because you are not at their level or something. So if they can open up to a lot more local designers and try and further promote our brands.

I know of celebrities who when you give them stuff, they are able to pin point things to you that if you do this or that to the finishing, you will go far.

The knowledge they have should help and impact on the fashion industry. It is not always that they should try things from Nigeria,” he added.

Isaac is popularly known as Kweku-Outluk. He studied Fashion & Textile at the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science & Technology (KNUST).

He currently holds a master's degree. He started the fashion brand Kweku-Outluk in 2012. It's been five years now and he has different outlets in Kumasi and Canada.

“Kweku-Outluk has been on different platforms and fashion weeks. We were on the Kumasi Fashion Week, KNUST Fashion Week and others. We also have contracts. It's been great.

Currently, we are employing 15 people and it is great. It's being a journey. We are based in Kumasi but we distribute around the world. We also have a big shop in Canada (African Arabian Market), where you can get our designs,” he concluded.
