The chiefs and elders of the six divisions of the Yilo State — Plau, Bornya, Bunase, Nyeweh, Ogomey and Okpeh — have launched the 25th edition of their annual Kloyosikplemi festival.

The launching which was held at the chief's palace located at Sra, near Somanya in the Eastern Region, showcased the performance of 'dipo' rites (puberty) for three females.

Kloyosikplemi is an annual festival celebrated to commemorate the untold hardships the ancestor of Yilo State went through years ago.

Addressing an enthusiastic audience, Norkortoma Amanor Okrah, a representative of the Plau Divisional Chief, Nene Aglezee III, averred that the festival will be celebrated from November 1 to November 30. It is under the theme: 'Unity in Diversity for Development'.

Norkortoma Okrah outlined a number of programmes scheduled to take place during the festival, and these include a king's praise crusade, basic and secondary school quizzes, royal walk through the township, omens day, divisional chiefs durbar, remembrance day, cultural night and a visit to the ancestral home.

He added that the His Royal Majesty Oklepeme Neur Anorbaah Sasraku II, paramount chief of Yilo State, will use the festival to outdoor his 12-year development agenda dubbed 'Oklepeme Nanenya' to the people.

“Today, our hearts are glad that peace has finally gotten a stay among us and the way forward is for us to celebrate and join forces to develop our community,” he stated.
