Ace actor George Appiah Kubi, popularly known as Paa George said he has regretted the time and money he spent on womanizing, alcoholism and smoking when he was in his prime time.

The old actor who turned seventy-eight (78) in May this year said that that promiscuous lifestyle drained him of all the money he was earning in his concert party ad live band days.

Those practices have had many bad repercussions on him to the extent that he cannot boast of a single room of his own, adding that he has been renting rooms for over sixty-three (63) years now.

“All those days I thought that I was enjoying life; I thought I was on top. I spent all my money on women, alcohol and smoking. Even though I have stopped those practices, I am poor now in my old age,” Paa George said on the Delay show last Sunday.

He said amidst laugher that he was very handsome during his youthful days that he was nick-named “Kwadwo Blackie” and so women were voluntarily trooping in to him everywhere he went.

Paa George revealed that as much as possible, he could smoke many packs of cigarette while drinking a large volume of alcohol.

“I was acting and playing band [live band] those days. When we travel out of Accra to play, I especially drink much alcohol. Even when we go and the drinking bar had close, I knock and knock till they come and sell some to me,” he disclosed.

Out of his former womanizing habit, Paa George disclosed that he had children with over 8 women and the number of children, he has lost count of.

As a result of excessive smoking and drinking, he was diagnosed of a deadly lung disease which according to him nearly sent him to his early grave.

“I was admitted at Korle-Bu for many weeks. My ribs were almost rotten and I could have died but I didn’t. Since then, I have not smoked nor drank again,” Paa George said.

He hopes that the youth will learn lessons from his life story and be good.
