Dee Aja “Weeps” Over Sydney Winning His “Onaapo” Award At GMA UK

Dee Aja Weeps Over Sydney Winning His Onaapo Award At GMA UK
19.09.2017 LISTEN

The original singer of hit “Onaapo” song, Dee Aja, has received with rude shock and disappointment the news that a remix of his original song by Barima Sydney has been awarded the Most Popular Song of the year.

Shocked Dee Aja said he should have been the winner and described the act as “disrespectful” on the part of the organizers.

The song was the theme song of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) in the 2016 general elections.

Dee Aja belives that he, together with the song writer, Nacee, worked hard for that song and so whatever award was there should have come to them, the original composers and not just a ‘remixer’.

“It was unfortunate for Nacee and myself to work to make the song that popular only for Sydney from nowhere to take our intellectual property (original Onaaapo song) and get rewarded for it.”

“Monkey dey work bamboo dey chop kind of thing has happened and I’m not surprised this has happened,” disappointed Aja said sadly.

Aja said he was happy that he was even no not invited to the UK for the show last Saturday since that would amount to waste of his time.

He said he was kept in the dark about the ceremony from the very beginning, otherwise he would have implored his fans to vote for his song but it’s all good because that would even bring him more pain.

“So I was happy I was not in UK for whatever,” he noted.

Dee Aja also expressed disappointment in his team led by Nacee for allowing the [disrespect] to happen.

He lamented that “I have been used and thrown to shame by my team. I have nothing to say than to leave everything in the hands of God. it is sad, but I leave it to him (God) because knows best.”

He said “Whatever reasons the organizers had, I still do not agree that Sydney won over us period!”

Aja posted on Facebook: “When you are eating the monkeys fingers abeg have a critical look at your own fingers.”

Modern Ghana Entertainment believes that the post is in connection with his disappointment over losing the award to Barima Sydney. Therefore, we can only console Dee Aja and wish him well for the next time!
