How long have we been stifled against the systems that facilitate the listening of GBC from abroad?

It is so refreshing to be tuning in from abroad and listening to one’s regional or national station for once. This is the Ghana Broadcasting Corporation in question.

The proliferation of private and commercial radio stations arguably seems to take the shine off our beloved national broadcaster to the extent that, sometimes one has to wonder how it all came about.

There is some sort of ray, light and sunshine brimming from the twin cities of our motherland Ghana where the puzzle and the crux of that matter looks to be tackling and answering itself- Secondi- Takoradi.

All that I am talking about is the fact that one can tune in from anywhere in the world and for that matter, the diaspora and listen to Ghana Broadcasting Corporation in its glory from the Twin Cities of Secondi and Takoradi.

The GBC simultaneously broadcasts its transmissions via two channels all at the same time on 94.7 Mhz as well as 88.1Mhz dial.

Yes, it is a very big deal. This is because for some time, it would have been the sole preserve and the Holy Grail for most or some of the private and commercial stations to have an online medium of transmission.

Now that the GBC is standing up to the art of modern broadcasting and transmission and for that matter digitalization, what do we say to our masters of broadcasting and the powers that be, for standing up against all odds to be counted?

Having gotten home after the usual and proverbial hard day’s work, I could not help but to try and tune in to see if it is real, that I could tune in to the Twin City’s GBC and listen from abroad.

Yes, it is true. You can also tune in and enjoy the ‘Drive-Express’ from Maurise Besiue as he takes you home from wherever you have been, Nkomo Nketenkete by Nana Ama Andrews or Yee Ka No Sen by Nana Ba Berima.

The likes of Akowua, Oman Sanda Salifu, Maa Abena and Desmond Cudjoe are all doing well with their shows.

We say, good job done. You deserve a very big shout on your broadcasting antennas and more grease to your transmitting elbows.

In this case, we say thank you to the Regional Director Mr Philip Baidoo and his team of brains behind the latest sensation out of the Ghana Broadcasting Corporation.

GBC, make it happen across the length and breadth of all the reginal stations. KUDUS.
