Charterhouse Production, organizers of Ghana Music Awards, has launched this year's Ghana Music Awards scheduled from May 1to 6.

Theresa Ayoade, Events Director of Charterhouse Ghana, launched this year's Awards Festival at the Regency Hotel in Accra.

The launch of the programme, which doubled as Nominee's Party was well attended by a number of the nominees vying for awards in this year's categories.

They had the chance also to interact with their fans that had trooped to the venue to give them moral support.

Other top dignitaries who graced the occasion were Nana Akomeah, a member of parliament, Mac Tontoh of Osibisa Fame, David Dontoh, A B Crentsil and Alhaji Sidiku Buari, President of the Musicians Union of Ghana (MUSIGA).

The Major sponsor of this year's Ghana Music Awards Festival 2007, Areeba, was represented by Mr. Andah, who pledged massive support from his company for this year's event.

The nominations list released by Charterhouse revealed a hot contention for the topmost award, Song of the Year, by three top artistes; Ofori Amponsah who won the award last year in addition to six other awards, Kwaku Gyasi and Obrafuor.

Interestingly, these artistes top the nominations with seven monitions each.

Apart from these artistes, Samini, Wutah, Lord Kenya and Ewura Esi follow with four nominations each.

Each of these musicians would be counting on the selection committee and the general public to see their dreams of carrying home awards through.

According to Charterhouse Ghana, organizers of the Ghana Music Awards festivals, the final event which comes of this May would be bigger and better than what patrons had witnessed in the previous years.
